A discussion of the thermal enviornments experienced by cryogenic propulsion vehicles is given. Various aspects of thermal protection systems for cryogenic propellant tanks are discussed including multilayer insulation schemes and solar shielding. The effects of propellant stratification and use of reliquefiers for stratification reduction systems, and initial propellant conditioning for cryogenic storage systems are briefly reviewed. (Author)
