The drag of open conical afterbodies of missile bodies was measured at angles of incidence up to 20 deg. The speeds were in the subsonic and lower transonic Mach range at Reynolds numbers, based on body diameter, between 500,000 and 1,300,000. At zero incidence, the results allow a drag optimization for constant afterbody lengths and for constant base diameters.
