The report analyzes cargo handling systems currently in use at air freight terminals. The study includes the conventional procedures which use conveyors or forklifts, pallets or containers, as well as an experimental towline-towcart Dortech system. Various operational areas within a terminal, such as the truck or aircraft loading and unloading docks, pallet buildup and breakdown stations, and the consolidation area are described in detail.
