Two automatic stations, which are being developed for the Phobos Project, will be able to use a broad set of international instruments and to investigate the surface, atmosphere, ionosphere, and magnetosphere of Mars from a satellite orbit. After complex maneuvers, both stations will transfer to a circular orbit, extremely near Phobos. Mission plans are discussed.
