The Spacelab demonstration mission series was studied and is described in a six volume report. The objective of the study was to provide engineering support to ESA in the task of assembling model Spacelab payloads which might be suitable for the demonstration mission series. Under direction from ESA, three payload models (with options) were assembled. In addition, the Cost Share Index for each experiment included in the options was calculated on the basis of resource ultilization. A rider to the study was undertaken in October 1978 and completed in March 1979 to address specific problems which could not be resolved during the main study analysis; additionally, thermal requirements were addressed. New payload options using different Spacelab configurations were generated.
