The studies that CNA conducted in fiscal year 1971 for the Chief of Naval Operations and the Commandant Marine Corps covered a wide range of Naval and Marine Corps missions, including antisubmarine warfare, tactical air, strategic warfare, naval gunfire, amphibious assault, and ground warfare tactics. CNA also studied logistics, maintenance, training, communications, and other support activities. CNA provides much short-term assistance to OpNav officials and study groups, including the examination of such questions as the Navy's R and D program; recruiting, training, and personnel retention policies; and the implications of Soviet naval activities.
