An Airborne Proximity Warning Instrument (APWI) designed and manufactured by Rock Avionics, New York, was subjected to a short laboratory test at the Transportation Systems Center to determine the suitability of this product for further evaluation as an aid to visual detection of other aircraft. The test results were affirmative with regard to the parameters tested: namely, sensor pattern and freedom from false alarm. Sensitivity was tested only to ascertain the feasibility of field and/or flight tests. (Author)
