The attitude control system is utilized in a spinstabilized space vehicle. A scanner is mounted in the vehicle for rotation with it. A signal generating device is associated with the scanner for generating a signal in response to sighting of a horizon. The signal generator is associated with a solenoid device and a gas source to forcibly vary the vehicle attitude. Celestial bodies are used in the system for determining position.
