A state-of-technology survey was conducted on nondestructive testing techniques for pressure vessels. The purpose of the investigation was to provide information for the design, construction, and certification of high-pressure tanks. The survey showed that considerable research is attempting to extend the usefulness of nondestructive testing to meet more demanding criteria of certification and to expand the capability to nearly all aspects of assuring material adequacy.
