The report describes the proposal to construct 17 miles of Interstate Route 5 between Hammer Lane near Stockton and the Sacramento-San Joaquin County Line. The plan of development is for a six lane freeway between Hammer Lane and Route 12, and a four lane freeway between Route 12 and the county line. The adverse environmental impact is: Air and noise pollution; visual impact; displacement of businesses and residences; use of the proposed Peripheral Canal as a borrow source for embankment material.
