The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) conducted a health hazard survey to determine the potential toxicity associated with the use of an airplane cleaning solution B and B 2020 Plus used to wash various types of commercial aircraft in the Frontier Airlines hangar, Stapleton Airport, Denver, Colorado. Based upon the results of environmental and medical evaluation data, it has been determined that the chemical B and B 2020 Plus, containing primarily naphthalene, is toxic at the concentrations found in airplane cleaning operations at the Frontier Airlines hangar. Recommendations have been suggested to management to obviate the observed hazards to affected employees.
