This dataset contains information about intermodal rail connections in Europe. Covered are 17 countries with a 1,435 mm rail network. Included are: Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, France, Luxembourg, Belgium and the Netherlands. The data describes the following characteristics: (a) stations and terminals along the route, including the starting point, endpoint, and sometimes a stopover, (b) NUTS classification at the NUTS0 to NUTS3 levels for all connections, and (c) the operating rail operator. The data represents a snapshot of the summer of 2023. All information has been obtained through public online research. The research will be presented at the European Transport Conference in Milano on September 8th, 2023.
