Mit der Diesellokomotive "PowerHaul" dringt die Firma GE Transportation, USA, in den europäischen Markt ein. Von dieser Lokomotive gibt es eine britische und eine europäische Version. Sie hat einen 16-Zylinder-Antrieb (3700GHP-Maschine) und erbringt eine Leistung von 2750 kW. Europäische Standards für die Emissionen wurden berücksichtigt. Sie ist angepasst an ETCS, Stufe 2, und an bis zu drei nationale Signalsysteme. Die technische Daten sind im Beitrag enthalten. Der britische Güterverkehrsbetreiber Freightliner hat von dieser Baureihe 30 Exemplare für das Jahr 2009 geordert. Eine Weiterentwicklung wird die dieselelektrische Hybridlokomotive 4400GHP sein.
