Considering wide variety of existing mathematical models for describing manoeuvring motion of ships and the needs to rationalize them, a new mathematical model is proposed. The model consists of the individual open-water characteristics of hull, propeller, and rudder, and the interaction effect between them. The insistence of the model is put on that it has physical meaning as much as possible and is constructed as simple as possible.
