The last ten years trials were carried out at sea by Ceberena on various types of cargo ships in connection with their performance in waves.

As most of these ships were equipped with strain gauges amidships and with a Tucker gauge, information was gained on low cycle and whipping stresses, and their relation to sea state.

An endeavour was made to obtain the ultimate bending moment. Endurance curves were ascertained which correlate satisfactorily with the results of fatigue tests.
