A stochastic model is reported for the rolling motion due to wind gusts having a non-uniform Poisson distribution and a modulated amplitude.
This model is a generalization on two previous ones [1,2] which it contains as special cases.
The statistics of the rolling motion amplitude process which is non-stationary are obtained and used for deriving a majorizing function for the probability of capsizing and the resulting inequality is used for a small cargo ship.
