Results of a comprehensive experimental study of the steering and manoeuvring qualities of the MARINER hull form have been obtained using a large model. Hydrodynamic coefficients measured by means of a planar motion mechanism are given and a comparison is made with published results of tests carried out at other establishments with models of the same form. The model data are used to predict turning manoeuvres, which are compared with the results of full-scale trials.
