This study presents a generalised energy recharge control (ERC) scheme for electrical scooters (ESs), which includes a central control unit, a battery recharge-control unit, a voltage boost-control unit, a brake-control unit, a motor and a sealed rechargeable battery. There are three recharge modes provided: (i) direct low-side driving circuit recharge mode, (ii) voltage boost recharge mode and (iii) brake assistant mode. With the proposed ERC mechanism, it is shown that mechanical energy generated by the running wheels can be converted into electrical energy in an efficient way for recharge and the controller would extend the ES's touring range.
