Two LMS adaptive IIR digital filters with saturation outputs are introduced for acoustic noise and echo cancellation in speech. By adding a saturation operation at the output of a direct form adaptive IIR digital filter, undesirable effects of any instability that may arise in the filter can be avoided. Simulation results indicate that better performance, as compared to other common adaptive algorithms, can be achieved.
