Although job scheduling for automated guided vehicle (AGV) systems has hardly been investigated, it is a very important problem as it is highly decisive for the performance of such a system. Current solutions focus on the simple case of vehicles loading only one unit at a time. However the introduction of multiple capacity vehicles increases the need for more general solutions. A heuristic optimisation criterion for the problem of a multiple capacity vehicle is proposed, an appropriate algorithm presented and illustrated, and an idea of further research in this field is given.
