A neuromorphic vision processing system which consists of a 32 × 32 CMOS imager and an edge feature extractor is implemented to mimic the early vision processing in vertebrates. The CMOS imager captures the image and performs edge processing, and the feature extractor can extract edges with different orientations. Both circuits have been fabricated and their functions experimentally verified.
