Connection admission control (CAC) for heterogeneous VBR video traffic in an ATM network is proposed. In the proposed method, AR model traffic is assumed and moments of aggregated traffic are computed using moments of each traffic. The authors then approximate aggregated traffic by a 2-state MMPP and compute the modified equivalent capacity using the 2-state MMPP parameters. CAC is achieved by the modified equivalent capacity.
