This paper deals with digital beamforming in the receive mode for a 4-element linear array, spaced at predefined regular intervals. Multiple, simultaneous, directive receive beams are formed by digitizing the outputs of the receiving array elements and forming beams by means of a digital processor. The digital processor combines the input signal at each element with its respective weighting co-efficients, which are applied to minimize phase and amplitude errors between the elements, to steer the beam in the desired direction and to produce multiple beams.
