The authors describe early experience in labelling anatomical slices from the Visible Human project. The goal is to analyze approximately 1800 digitized color photos of the human body and produce a 3D volume data set whose voxels integers are encoded with tissue types. The approach is a mixture of traditional pattern recognition and an interactive user interface.
