Frequency diversity array multiple input–multiple output (FDA-MIMO) radar has garnered considerable interest due to its advantages in frequency diversity and degrees of freedom. For collocated FDA-MIMO radar with arbitrary subarray configurations, this article proposes a rapid 3-D joint range and angle estimation method. The method exploits sparse uniform linear array fitting technique within the mainlobe to reduce data dimension. Furthermore, by utilizing the reduced-dimensional matrix and exploiting the properties of the Kronecker product to replace the 3-D fine gird search operation with a 3-D linear fitting fast Fourier transform formulation, computational complexity is substantially reduced while ensuring the efficiency of parameter estimation.
