Multiport dc-dc converters are gaining popularity as integrated systems for various applications like electric vehicles (EVs), unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and distributed energy systems due to their compact size and low cost. These multiport converters require wide voltage gain due to the change in the energy source’s input voltage. However, the limited wide voltage range in conventional dc-dc converters restricts their operation. The resonant-type converters are suitable for wide voltage applications due to their operating characteristics and soft-switching capabilities. However, the LLC-based resonant network with a multioutput port needs to operate in a large frequency range to achieve wide voltage gain. Thus, this article proposes a multiport reconfigurable resonant converter suitable for narrow frequency wide voltage applications. In this converter, the topology morphing approach is used to integrate two resonant networks (LLC and LLC-C). The converter functions as LLC for higher gain and as LLC-C for the lower gain operation. In addition, this converter operates in soft switching for the entire range of operations. The gain analysis and result show the effective regulation of the output voltage over a wide range of input voltage variations within a narrow operating frequency range. This article includes a 500 W reconfigurable converter prototype to validate the converter operation.
