Cascaded H-bridge modular multilevel matrix converter has the advantages of a wide controllable area of input output voltage, multilevel operation and modular structure. The converter is suitable for great power application, especially for the high voltage motor drive application. This paper proposed a control strategy of the single H-bridge Multilevel Matrix Converter, with a new single-capacitor PWM generation which can reduce the switching frequency. This paper also analyzed the switching transients of the converter. Performance of the Multilevel Matrix Converter, based on the proposed strategy, is evaluated in the MATLAB/Simulink environment.
