We demonstrated a new architecture of the chip-to-chip optical interconnection using optical connection rods which can be applied in the polymeric-waveguide-embedded electrical-optical printed circuit board. We used 45/spl deg/-ended optical connection rods as a medium to guide light paths perpendicularly between laser diode (or photo diode) and waveguides.
