Climate change and its consequences are the primary concerns of living beings and ecosystems. One of the major causes of this adverse situation is the increased air pollution from fossil-fuelled automobiles. The number of internal combustion (IC) engine four-wheelers is growing rapidly in India, contributing to the increased emissions. The use of electric vehicles (EVs) is considered a feasible solution to control the air pollution due to the emissions from automobiles. Despite the availability of four-wheeler EVs in India, the majority of people still opt for internal combustion engine vehicles. This study reviews the available articles on four-wheeler EV adoption. Articles from Web of Science and Scopus databases are reviewed, and the factors affecting the adoption are identified. Knowledge of key characteristics influencing adoption can help product developers and marketers focus their efforts on enhancing adoption.
