In this work we have investigated if the achieved mode-selectivity is sufficient to suppress the higher-order modes also under strong RF modulation. It is concluded that, high performance dynamic fundamental-mode stabilized VCSEL using a shallow surface relief can be obtained by a careful design. These devices have shown a SMSR of more than 30 dB even under strong RF modulation conditions.
