Overlapped block motion compensation (OBMC) can significantly improve upon the prediction performance of conventional block motion compensation, though at the cost of increased decoder computational complexity. This paper analyzes the complexity costs of OBMC, and offers several modifications to OBMC that significantly reduce its decoder complexity while retaining most of the OBMC performance gain.<>
