We report results of an all-optical switching experiment in a phase-shifted fiber Bragg grating. A low power, CW probe beam is switched off (on) by an intense pump beam. We experimentally demonstrated the cross phase based, all-optical switching in a phase-shifted grating. The strong enhancement of the nonlinear effect due to the group velocity reduction and the switching polarization dependence was observed and theoretically confirmed.
