The paper presents an algorithm for both bio-medical signal compression and denoising which realise the pruning of a DWT tree by wavelet thresholding. This algorithm uses a MDL criterion for evaluating the noisy wavelet coefficients. The performances show a significant advantage when compared with those obtained by using other algorithms.
