A feedback system that combined modified-SPIDER and 4-f active-chirp compensation enabled us to compress photonic-crystal-fiber and tapered-fiber outputs to 5.8 and 8.4 fs, respectively. Advantages and problems of both fibers for further pulse compression were mentioned.
