Infrared radiation tunable from 2.7-5.2 /spl mu/m (and 1.6-1.7 /spl mu/m) generated in potassium titanyl arsenate is used to study simultaneously the absorption in the fundamental (/spl nu//sub 3/) and its first overtone (2/spl nu//sub 3/) band of methane.
