A state-of-the-art, miniaturized, high reliability microwave dual down converter has been developed for missile and airborne applications. This Ku-Band to VHF down converter, which was developed for the Extended Range Interceptor (ERINT) missile, has a gain of 45 dB(min), weighs only 2.75 ounces and is packaged into a volume of 1.46 cubic inches. A C-Band version was subsequently developed as an exact replacement for the Ku-Band unit. This paper discusses in detail the hardware design analysis and performance specifications of both down converters.
