Summary form only given. The spatial distribution of the transmitted pump of a synchronously pumped periodically poled LiNbO/sub 3/ optical parametric oscillator is measured using a optical fiber coupled fast photodiode and sampling-head oscilloscope. Evidence of temporally and spatially resolved backconversion is observed.
