We have developed a new system which provides fibre dispersion compensation for different link lengths via an electrical adjustment. First, a linearly chirped fibre Bragg grating (LCFBG) is used to introduce a priori delay (linear and fixed). Then a phase modulator (PM) adds a posteriori delay (linear and tunable) by introducing a differential time delay to the ordered spectral components according to the voltage of the electrical signal applied to it. The variation of the electrical amplitude tunes the optimal transmission distance within the link.
