A three-dimensional Laser Detection and Ranging (3-D LADAR) system can produce a set of 2-D images with a fast range gate (∼ 2 ns) resulting in a data cube of spatial and range scene data with excellent resolution in both dimensions. Each 2-D range slice image contains the detected photo-electrons at each pixel for a particular range. The photo-electron counts are directly proportional to the return signal intensities incident upon the detector.
