A dc–dc, forward Buck–Boost converter using dual interleaving with four-phase switching arms is presented. The dual interleaving consists of two mirrored interphase transformers that take advantage of the common-mode voltage resulting in ripple frequency duplication and small common inductance. The produced high-current waveforms reveal virtual ripple reduction at full load, the efficiency and the power density being 98% and 5.7 kW/kg, respectively. The converter fundamental of operation and design assessment are described together with experimental results obtained from a 32-kW prototype.
