Now being tested is an airborne IR differential absorption lidar (DIAL) system operating in the 3- to 5-/spl mu/m wavelength region. The system employs two Nd:YAG lasers each pumping a KTiOAsO/sub 4/ (KTA) optical parametric oscillator. The system will be used to measure methane column-content concentrations over regional areas.
