Due to COVID-19, China closed most of the passenger transport corridors and only kept about 30 ports to carry out necessary cargo transportation in 2020, so that international road transportation was seriously affected, which had negative impact on economic development and trade facilitation. This paper analyzed the impact of the spread of the virus on international road transport and the exposed problems by investigations, learned from the experience of EU and put forward relevant measures and suggestions (i.e., strengthen epidemic prevention measures to ensure the safety of international road transportation, ensure international road transport services during the epidemic, and promote regional international road transport integration) for the development of international road transport in order to eliminate negative effects on economy and trade while prevent the epidemic at the same time.
