In order to study the role of EDR data in vehicle accident reconstruction, the 15 basic data types of EDR data are analyzed. This paper reconstructs the complete process of 16 car traffic accidents and analyzes the data sources and collision types of EDR. And the trigger threshold range of each collision type is explained, 16 accident cases are reconstructed and analyzed. The typical accident cases are analyzed by EDR data. The vehicle speed and the direction of the force at the time of the collision are combined with the sensitivity parameters. The second reconstruction and comparison of the vehicle speed error of the two reconstruction results show that the relative error of the vehicle speed drops to within 10%, that is, adjusting the EDR sensitivity parameter can effectively reduce the relative error of the vehicle speed.
