Output voltage of renewable energy sources, such as fuel cell and PV cell, is often low and varies widely with load and environmental condition. An integrated boost three-level (TL) full-bridge (FB) converter is proposed. The boost and TL FB converters are integrated to reduce number of switches. It can operate at two-level and three-level modes, so it is suitable for wide input-voltage range application. The input and output ripple currents are low. Operating principle is illustrated. Design guidelines and example of the proposed converter are given. Simulation results of a 1-kW integrated boost TL FB converter verify the theoretical analysis.
