Samples of cortical bone, derived from human femur, have been studied using THz time-domain transmission spectroscopy. Values of attenuation coefficient and refractive index are compared to those of Young's modulus and X-ray attenuation (CT number). The potential for a non-invasive THz probe of bone quality is discussed.
