Group synchronization is an important group coordination mechanism in real-time cooperative multimedia systems. On the basis of discussion of distributed real-time cooperative multimedia systems, the group synchronization method based on multicast tree is presented. In order to transmit the operation messages, a minimum delay jitter multicast tree with delay bounded is built, and it is adjusted according to the changing of topology and delay of the networks. In the precondition of real-time, the method keeps the transmitting delay jitter least to achieve synchronization between group members. Experimental results and practical application show that the method is efficient for group synchronization.
