Self-action of light beams in nonlinear waveguides can be observed at extremely low light power. In this report we have demonstrated theoretically and experimentally the self-action of light beams propagating in a biased Bi/sub 12/TiO/sub 20//Bi/sub 12/SiO/sub 20/ planar waveguide fabricated on the crystal of sillenite family under the application of external DC field.
