The ophthalmic laser system Medilex based on the KrCl (223-nm) excimer laser is presented. A comparative analysis of using the ArF (193-nm) and the KrCl (223-nm) excimer lasers for refractive surgery has been performed. The advantages of using the 223-nm excimer lasers are discussed. The results of clinical trials are presented.
