Compared with domestic high-speed rail technology, the current control technology for heavy haul trains in China is relatively backward. It is necessary to introduce high-speed rail technology into heavy haul trains and improve the level of heavy haul trains. Studying the control system of heavy haul railway trains based on virtual coupling technology, improving the technical level of heavy haul railway train control system, and improving the efficiency of heavy haul railway transportation are the breakthrough and development direction of future heavy haul railways. At the same time, the collaborative control of multi-agent system (MAS) is widely used in today’s scientific research. With reference to many applications and mature development of multi-agent system, the concept of multi-agent coordinated control can be applied to heavy haul train formation control. This article applies the Generalized Model Predictive (GPC) formation control method to the speed collaborative control of virtual marshalling trains, and compares the control effects of traditional control methods and GPC methods through simulation, proving the superiority of the GPC method.
