In terms of kinetic kill vehicle during the terminal course of interception, the key problem is how to intercept targets precisely under the condition that constraints of side window scope are satisfied. In this paper, a method of terminal guidance and control applied to kinetic kill vehicle adopting side window detection is presented. The true proportional navigation and theory of sliding-mode control are employed to guide kinetic kill vehicle and control its attitude, respectively. By means of designing the switching control law of orbit-control engines and resorting to the pulse-width and pulse-frequency modulator, the continuous guidance and control commands are transformed into the ones of starting up or shutting down engines. Simulation results indicate that the proposed method is effective when it is used to intercept high-speed maneuvering targets.
